The first discovery you can do is self. Nobody has said that yet.
Random though it sounds, the discovery and the travel finally started, courtesy the musings bit. After a lot of research, and reading travel blogs, I finally zeroed in on Matheran- much less adventurous than the unheard places I had read about in the blogs, and even more short-lasting.
But the common thread was the uncertainty, flexibility, adventure, new people, and to top it all, time to muse! Unfortunately, I didnt come across many travelling "partners" that had got me excited reading the blogs, but that only shows the best is yet to come! The only one I did, though, asked me after a minute of deliberation: Are you a loner?
Answering that question was a huge realization per se. I replied in the negative, only to realize that I so wanted to become one,at least for then.
There is all the material on web on Why you should travel alone? The number of reasons from 5 to 50, depending on how passionately the Blogger feels about the question. After having done it myself, albeit on a very low scale, I feel you should do it once to answer the question. Do it for as short as 6 hours and you will find your reckoning. But like recognition, everyone needs it, only reasons differ.
In my first trip, I had walked 10 kms without realizing the pain, not even the next day! I observed, contemplated, watched, and moved on. The sheer blankness was bliss. The new thoughts replaced old ones. And the new people replaced the regular ones. The planning and organizing took a backseat, and sheer adventure was everything.
Here comes the definition: Adventure is doing something for the first time.
